la dolce lulu

about the baker

born on the louisiana bayou on a hot summer's day to a chemist and a social worker, lindsey walsworth began baking just a few months before she could walk (at least that's how she remembers it).  she baked any time, anywhere, and with anyone tall enough to turn on the oven.  as the years went by, her baking time was limited by school and tedious etiquette lessons, but it was never far from lindsey's mind.  she was even known to fake a mean flu in order to stay home and test new recipe ideas.  in 2001, the little baker packed her bags for college in the peach state and has resided in atlanta ever since.  after four years of study and a bachelor's degree in art history, lindsey became a full time nanny, devoting her days to babies in whom she has established a love of baking as true as her own.
the consummate hostess, lindsey found herself baking for friends at every turn.  and when her circle of friends began to include more and more vegans who looked longingly, and hungrily, at lindsey's baked goods, her parentage played a pivotal role.  the social worker in her knew it was unjust!  the chemist knew there was a way to overcome it!  lindsey pored over every vegan cookbook available, read vegan blogs, and made a bakery lab of her kitchen.  after a few months of experiments, it all clicked.  she went to a fourth of july party with a dozen vegan chocolate peanut butter cupcakes, and her fate was sealed.  the vegans went crazy, the non-vegans were completely fooled, and the orders started pouring in.
